Arwel Knit Sweater in Ivory Cashmere

Hand-knit by artisans in Bolivia, the Arwel Sweater is knit so that the shape of the body expands and contracts by increasing and decreasing the size of the yarn and knitting needles. The shoulders are knit with volume using thicker yarn and larger stitches which decrease in size towards the hem. Made in 100% cashmere.

Cashmere is one of the most luxurious wools, with desirable drape, softness and wrinkle resistance. It is up to three times more insulating than regular wool, with lofty fibers that can be tightly knit into warm and lightweight fabric. Like all wool, it wicks moisture and allows skin to breathe. Cashmere is considered hypoallergenic, since it doesn’t have lanolin. While more delicate than other wool, cashmere garments will not lose their shape if properly cared for. This is due to the fiber’s natural stretch that allows garment to move with you and recover.

This family-owned mill was founded in 1958. Today, it is powered by renewable energy, purifies its wastewater and recycles more than 90% of its waste. They’ve recently developed a system where they were able to decrease 23% of their carbon emissions. This garment was made by a factory built upon a fundamental cornerstone of employing and empowering women in their artisan craftmanship located in La Paz, Bolivia.
